Calgary Wild Rose Women's Triathlon
The Calgary Wild Rose Women's Triathlon is held at the Rocky Ridge YMCA. The event features pool swims followed by bike and run segments, with measured distances and competitive timing.
Distances offered:
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 23 km bike, 5 km run
- Super Sprint: 300 m swim, 11.5 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Team Sprint: 750 m swim, 23 km bike, 5 km run
The swim is a continuous pool swim in lanes with athletes staged by estimated swim time. Silicone swim caps are provided and spare caps will be available. After the swim athletes run about 300 m barefoot from the pool exit to the transition area. Helmets must be fastened before touching bikes and athletes must walk their bikes to the mount line.
The bike course is on open roads. Riders must stay to the right, not cross the yellow centre line, follow volunteer directions, and respect drafting rules. E bikes are allowed. There is no aid station on the bike; runners have an aid station at the turnaround supplying water and electrolytes. Cutoffs apply for the swim segments and overall course progress.
Participants receive a race bib, swim cap, an individually handcrafted finisher necklace, chip timing with official results, and race day bike support. The event also allocates a portion of registration fees to YW Calgary, an organization that provides shelter, crisis support and community services for women.
