12th Annual Calabash Turkey Trot
The Calabash Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day in Calabash, North Carolina. This annual event offers multiple running distances on roads throughout the community, starting and finishing near Oak St. Participants can choose from several individual race options or participate in a combined distance event.
The event features the following distances:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile (Mashed Potato Miler)
- 10.321 Miles (Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge)
The Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge involves completing the 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile distances in succession. For participants who cannot attend the physical location, virtual options are available for all distances, allowing runners to track their progress through a dedicated group on Strava.
Awards are presented in several categories, including the top three overall male and female finishers, the top three masters male and female finishers, and the top three in age groups categorized every five years. There is also recognition for the best costume. Standard prizes include Golden Turkey Trophies, which must be collected in person during the awards ceremony.
