Cades Cove Loop Lope
The Cades Cove Loop Lope is an organized footrace held within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It serves as a fundraising event to benefit park projects such as wildlife conservation, historic preservation, and the restoration of native plants and grasslands. Participation in the event is restricted to a total of 750 participants.
Participants can choose between two course distances:
- 10 Mile Loop (USATF Certified)
- 5K
The event implements specific transportation and parking requirements due to its location. A limited number of vehicle reservation passes are available for purchase for on-site access. Participants who do not secure a parking pass must use group transportation provided from the Townsend Visitors Center or carpool with a passholder. A handicapped accessible shuttle operates from the Townsend Visitors Center for those utilizing the group transport option.
Race materials, including packets and bibs, are distributed during scheduled times at designated locations in Knoxville and Townsend prior to the event date. The registration fee is uniform for both the shorter and longer distance options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
