Event Overview

The Cactus to Cloud Sky Race is a point-to-point trail running event. It is described as New Mexico's only point-to-point ultra trail race and its original sky race. The event is part of the Sacramento Mountains Ultra Series, based out of Cloudcroft, NM.

Course and Distances

The event offers two distances:

  • Sky Run 50K: Starts at Oliver Lee State Park (Alamogordo).
  • Cloud Run 32K: Starts at Sunspot.

Both races share a common cut-off time and finish area. The course travels through the Sacramento Mountains above the Tularosa Basin, offering views from the desert floor to mountain ridges. It is described as the highest elevation course in the state, moving from desert ecosystems to mountain peaks.

Logistics

For both distances, shuttle buses are available to transport runners from the start/finish pavilion area to their respective starting points.
