Cactus to Cloud Sky Race : October 17-18, 2026
The Cactus to Cloud Sky Race is a point-to-point trail running event in the Cloudcroft, New Mexico area. The course links desert terrain around the Tularosa Basin with higher-elevation forest in the Sacramento Mountains near Cloudcroft. The event is scheduled for October 17-18, 2026 and is the third race in the inaugural Sacramento Mountains Ultra Series, based out of Cloudcroft at approximately 8,676 ft elevation.
Two race distances are offered:
- Sky Run 50K starting at Oliver Lee State Park.
- Cloud Run 32K starting at Sunspot Visitor Center.
Shuttle service is provided from the start/finish pavilion to each race start; entrants are asked to indicate shuttle needs during registration. The event provides finishers with custom shirts and unique finisher medals. Registration for the event closes on Sun, Oct 11 at 11:59 PM MT.
Organizers list course details as forthcoming. The event takes place on high-elevation single-track and historic rail-bed trails and emphasizes a route that moves from lower-elevation desert ecosystems into mountain ridgelines and forested areas.
