Buena Vista Turkey Trot 5K
The event features a family-friendly running program in Buena Vista, Colorado, with a main 5K and a preceding Family Fun Run. The 5K follows mostly flat, well-maintained trails with views of the Collegiate Peaks and the Arkansas River. The route is stroller friendly with a few bumpy trail sections; young children who ride in strollers do not need to register. Runners, joggers, and walkers are all welcome.
Distances
- Family Fun Run (free; young finishers receive a special Turkey Trot medallion)
- 5K
Registration is completed online and accepts cards only; registration may close early if participant caps are met. Registered participants who cannot attend may defer to the next year with at least 24 hours notice, arrange to pick up their giveaway during packet pickup, or forfeit registration and giveaway.
Packet pickup is offered early and on race day at local Buena Vista locations, including Main Street Tavern and the Start/Finish public parking area on East Main Street and South Railroad Street.
Awards and extras include place awards for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K, Turkey Trot swag for participants, and a commemorative finisher award. Organizers will collect food pantry items at packet pickup for donation; bringing five items earns a discounted entry for a future One Love Endurance Event. A portion of proceeds will be donated to a beneficiary to be announced.
Animals are not allowed on the race course; pets may remain at the Start/Finish area if leashed, controlled, and kept at least 20 feet away from the Start/Finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
