Collegiate Peaks Trail Run
The Collegiate Peaks Trail Run is an annual trail running event in Buena Vista, Colorado. Established in 1991, the 2026 edition marks the event's 36th anniversary. The race begins and ends near the Arkansas River and follows single-track and jeep trails that include part of the old Midland Railroad corridor and other scenic areas north and east of town.
The course runs largely on lands managed by the National Forest Service or the Bureau of Land Management. The route starts at nearly 8,000 feet above sea level and is an up-and-down course with over 3,500 feet of elevation gain and drop on each loop. The event offers two distance options:
- 25 miles
- 50 miles
The 25-mile distance completes the loop once in a clockwise direction. The 50-mile distance completes the same loop twice, with the second lap run counterclockwise. The description notes that the race involves extended distance and significant elevation change, which affects both time and physical and mental stamina.
