The Independence Day Freedom 5K takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Buena Vista, Colorado. The event is centered at Main St. and Railroad St., Buena Vista, CO 81211.
Two distances are offered:
- 5K - course includes paved roads and a dirt river path
- 3K - shorter course through Buena Vista
The 5K course contains approximately two miles on paved roads with the middle mile on a dirt path that follows the Arkansas River. The river path is described as family friendly and suitable for walkers and strollers.
Registration pricing is tiered: an early-bird price of $25 through June 4, a pre-registration price of $30 from June 5 to June 30, and a race-week price of $35. A limited number of T-shirts will be ordered in advance; 370 shirts are planned and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Awards for the 5K include recognition and awards for the top three male and top three female finishers. Instead of age group awards, all finishers are entered into a post-race raffle; winners must be present at the awards area to collect prizes.
