BVFRD Fire Drill 5K
The Burke Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (BVFRD) organizes the fifth annual Fire Drill event at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia. This community event takes place at Pavilion A and serves as a fundraiser to support the station with equipment and training. The BVFRD provides fire suppression and emergency medical services for several local areas, including Burke, Fairfax, and Springfield.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5 km
- 1 mile fun run
Registration is conducted exclusively online and remains open until shortly before the event begins. Registration fees increase as the date approaches. All participants receive a commemorative race shirt and a finisher medal, though these items are only guaranteed for those who register by April 9. After this date, shirts and medals are distributed based on availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event includes an awards ceremony for those competing in the 5 km distance. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, the top three male and female finishers in various age categories will be recognized, with groups ranging from 15 and under to 60 and over. Packet pick-up is available the day before the event at a local running store in Burke and on-site at the park on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
