Butterfield Canyon Marathon
The Butterfield Canyon Marathon is a trail running event held at Butterfield Trailhead Regional Park. The course follows single track trails through dense foliage and offers views of surrounding mountains near the Kennecott Mine. The route includes steep rocky climbs and single track descents on a marked trail system.
The event offers these distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
Support and race services include well marked trails with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals, plus aid stations stocked with Tailwind, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and additional snacks. Aid stations note wrong-way markings with red flags. Finish area services include locally made finisher and age-group medals, a race shirt, free race photos, live results, and a post-race breakfast provided by Great Harvest Bread. Overall and age-division awards are given for top finishers.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Salt Lake Running Company in Sandy, Utah; race day pickup is also available. Late registration opens July 8 and closes August 7 at 11:59 pm; same-day registration is not available. Free parking is available around the pavilion. Volunteers receive a credit usable for future Happy Trails races and access to finish-area food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
