Bute Highland Games 10k
This is a 10 km road race held on August 22, 2026 as part of the Bute Highland Games. The route begins and finishes at the Games' Stadium in Rothesay.
The course travels through the town before heading north along the coast road. It passes Skeoch Woods and Ardbeg Point, continues to Port Bannatyne, and then returns along the same route to the stadium finish. The race offers views over the Clyde estuary, Loch Striven, and the Kyles of Bute.
Prizes are awarded for the first four places in both men's and women's categories, as well as for veteran and local runners. The first male and female finishers receive the Rhubodach Salver, and the first local male and female receive the Rhubodach Quaich.
Timing uses a ‘Chip to Chip’ system embedded in the race number. Changing facilities and showers are available at the adjacent Leisure Centre, which closes at 6 p.m. In-ear headphones are not permitted, but bone-conducting earphones are allowed.
