Dunoon Ultra Marathon and Relay : 22 Aug 2026
The Dunoon Ultra Marathon and Relay marks its 10th anniversary with a trail event based on the Loch Eck Loop. The solo ultra covers 52.22 km (32.45 mi) with 983 m (3225 ft) of ascent. The route passes both east and west shores of Loch Eck and includes views of Holy Loch and the Firth of Clyde. Terrain combines rolling hills, long climbs, fast descents and some brief road sections. A GPX file is available for download via the event map; the route may be subject to minor alterations.
The event is fully signposted and supported by marshals. Two checkpoints provide refreshments and access to dropbags. A checkpoint cut-off is applied at Checkpoint 2; runners must reach it within 6 hours 30 minutes from the race start or may be removed. Compulsory safety kit is required and details will be provided before race day.
Age requirements are 20+ on race day for solo ultra entrants and 18+ for relay entrants. Relay teams are responsible for moving members to changeover points. Limited parking is available near Benmore Gardens and free bus transport is provided from Dunoon Pier; the finish is at Dunoon Pier.
Finisher items may include a race t-shirt (if purchased), medal, event bag, custom buff, refreshments and a post-race massage. Entry fees follow tiered pricing and there are defined refund and transfer rules, including a 30-day cooling-off fee and no deferrals.
