Dunoon Ultra Marathon and Relay - 22 Aug 2026
The Dunoon Ultra Marathon marks its 10th anniversary on 22 August 2026. The event offers a solo ultra and a relay option around Dunoon in Argyll. Entry for the relay is noted as closed while solo places remain available at tiered prices.
The ultra uses the Loch Eck Loop. The course distance is 52.22 km with approximately 983 m of elevation gain. The route shows both east and west shores of Loch Eck and includes views over Holy Loch and the Firth of Clyde. Terrain includes rolling hills, long climbs, fast descents and some brief road sections. A GPX file is available from the event map and the route may be subject to minor alterations.
There is a checkpoint cutoff in place: runners must reach Checkpoint 2 within 6 hours 30 minutes of the race start to continue. The race start location is Benmore Gardens and the finish is at Dunoon Pier. Limited parking is available and a free bus service runs from Dunoon Pier. The route is fully signposted and marshalled. Two checkpoints provide refreshments and dropbag access. Relay teams are responsible for moving members to changeover points.
Age requirements are 20 and over for the solo ultra and 18 and over for relay teams. Compulsory safety kit is required and details will be provided before race day. Finisher items include a race t shirt if purchased, a medal, a Dunoon Ultra bag, a custom buff, refreshments and a complimentary post race massage.
