Brodick Glencloy Trail - Isle of Arran
The Brodick Glencloy Trail is a trail race of approximately 10K that starts in Brodick and returns to sea level. The route is mostly on rough footpaths and broad Forestry roads, with about 250 yards on tarmac pavement or road. The course gains roughly 600 feet in elevation as it climbs to the top of the hill between Brodick and Lamlash and descends into Glen Cloy.
The route begins at Ormidale Sports Field and follows estate tracks, a footpath known as the Old Lamlash Road, Forestry roads and tracks beside the Cloy Burn. The finish is at the old garage forecourt at the bottom of Auchrannie Road. A Forestry bridge is crossed on the descent into Glen Cloy. Trail shoes with grip are recommended for the surfaces described.
The event is held under Scottish Athletics rules. Entry is limited to 100 runners and the minimum age is 16. Entry fees are listed for Scottish Athletics members and non members. Ormidale Sports Pavilion provides toilets and changing facilities and there is car parking at Ormidale Sports Ground. Brodick offers a range of eating options for post race refuelling.
