Butcombe Trail Ultra

The event is a self-navigation ultramarathon on Saturday, 25 April 2026. There are two distances: 50 miles and 50 kilometres. The race starts and finishes at the Mendip Activity Centre in Churchill.

The route follows the official 47-mile Butcombe Trail through the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is mostly off-road and passes by several pubs. Both races are qualifying events for the UTMB® series. The 50-mile race is a 100 km index race, and the 50 km race is a 50 km index race.

The 50-mile entry fee is £82.00, and the 50-kilometre fee is £67.00. A £2 discount is available for affiliated athletes. The minimum age to enter is 20. Participants must carry their own navigation equipment. Entry fees include the cost of GPS tracking for timing and runner location.

The event is organised by the Town and Country Harriers running club. Proceeds are donated to the Mendip Hills Fund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
