Butcombe Trail Ultra
Butcombe Trail Ultra stages self navigation ultramarathons in the Mendip Hills, organised by the Town and Country Harriers running club. Events are scheduled for Saturday 17 April 2027 at the Mendips Activity Centre (BS25 5PQ). Surplus proceeds are donated to the Mendips Hills Fund.
Distances include:
- 50 miles (81 km), 1960 m ascent
- 31 miles (50 km), 1200 m ascent
Entry fees are tiered. BTU50M prices listed are £62 super early bird, £72 early bird, £82 full price. BTU50K prices listed are £47 super early bird, £57 early bird, £67 full price. Early bird pricing begins 2 August and full price applies from 17 January.
Race services and features described by the organisers include well stocked aid stations run by trail runners, GPS trackers for real time tracking, pre-race organised recces, free race day photos, a hot meal at the finish, medals and finish-line items, prizes for first to third in open and female categories, and goody bags for age group winners. Race day parking at the event HQ is provided and a camping option is available.
The event is listed as a qualifying index race for UTMB and sister races. The organisers have partnered with Into Ultra to offer a small number of free places for those facing financial barriers and state an aim to make the races inclusive.
