Chasing the Rainbows Bursting Bubble 5K Walk & Run
Chasing the Rainbows Bursting Bubble is a 5K walk and run held at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY. The event offers both in person and virtual participation and includes family oriented activities such as bubbles, food trucks, raffles, face painting, a live DJ, and a Wall to Remember for reflection and tribute.
Event amenities include live, text, and email results, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for entries registered at least three weeks in advance. Race packet pick up details are to be determined; a race day pick up booth will also be available. Parking is available inside the park for a fee of eight dollars per vehicle.
The course policy notes that strollers are welcome and dogs are not allowed on the path or near the picnic area. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers for men and women and to the top finisher in standard age groups including 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 plus.
Proceeds support Chasing the Rainbows programs, which provide eleven daily free services such as virtual and in person support groups, peer mentors, trauma therapy, a podcast, coping care packages, mindful movement, online chat communities, family resources, and perinatal bereavement training.
