Chasing the Rainbows Bursting Bubble 5K Walk & Run
Chasing the Rainbows Bursting Bubble 5K Walk & Run is a 5K event held at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY. The event is offered in person at that location and also supports virtual participation.
The event purpose is to raise awareness and provide support for families grieving infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or infant loss. Participation supports Chasing the Rainbows' 11 free services, which include multiple virtual support groups each week, in-person support groups, peer mentors, trauma therapy, a podcast, coping care packages, mindful movement, private online chat communities, resources for family members, perinatal bereavement training for medical units, and community events.
On-site amenities and features include live results delivered online or by text and email, free finish line photos and video, personalized bibs for those registered three weeks in advance, bubbles, food trucks, raffles, face painting, a live DJ, vendors, live entertainment, and a Wall to Remember for reflection and remembrance.
Practical details: strollers are welcome; dogs are not allowed on the path or near the picnic area. Parking inside the park is available for a fee of $8 per vehicle.
