Chasing the Rainbows Bursting Bubble 5K Walk & Run : East Islip
This event is a community walk and run held during Bereaved Mother’s Day weekend at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, New York. The main distance is 5K and the event is presented both in person at multiple locations and with a virtual participation option.
The purpose is to raise awareness and provide support for families grieving infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or infant loss. Registrations support Chasing the Rainbows’ 11 free, trauma-informed services, which include multiple virtual support groups each week, in-person support groups across the United States, peer mentors, trauma therapy, a podcast, coping care packages, mindful movement sessions, online private chat communities, bereavement training for medical units, and community events.
Event amenities listed include live results by text and email, free finish-line photos, personalized bibs for timely registrants, bubbles, food trucks, raffles, face painting, and a live DJ. A Wall to Remember provides a dedicated space for reflection and tribute.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and first place in age groups: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 plus.
Race packet pickup details are listed as to be determined; a race-day pickup booth will also be available. Parking is available inside the park for a fee of $8 per vehicle.
