Chasing the Rainbows Bursting Bubble 5K Walk & Run
The event is a community 5K walk and run presented by Chasing the Rainbows, held at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY. It combines a timed 5K with remembrance activities and on-site amenities intended for participants and their families.
Event amenities include live, text, and email results, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for those registered at least three weeks in advance. The gathering will feature bubbles, food trucks, raffles, face painting, a live DJ, vendors, and other entertainment. A Wall to Remember will provide a space for reflection and commemoration.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to top finishers in age-group categories listed from 19 & under through 70+. Race packet pick-up details are to be determined; there will also be a race day packet pick-up option at the event. Course notes indicate that strollers are welcome and that dogs are not allowed on the path or near the picnic area. Parking is available inside the park with a stated fee of $8 per vehicle.
The event supports Chasing the Rainbows’ programs for families grieving infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or infant loss. These supported services include daily virtual support groups, in-person support groups, peer mentors, trauma therapy, a podcast, coping packages, mindful movement, private online communities, resources for family members, perinatal bereavement training for medical units, and community events.
