Event overview
The Burney Mountain 100 is a 100-mile endurance run held in Cassel, California. The looped course starts and finishes at Burney Mountain Guest Ranch and runs through Lassen National Forest, the Thousand Lakes Wilderness, and the Burney Basin. The route includes a cumulative climb and descent of about 15,000 feet. Noted viewpoints along the course include Mount Lassen, Mount Shasta, the Hat Creek Rim, and surrounding lava flows. Course and logistics
The terrain varies from rocky ridgelines to forest floor and sections above the tree line. A runner's guide covers aid station, drop bag, crew, and pacer information. Dry camping for runners and crew is provided at Burney Mountain Guest Ranch for the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights before the event, with that cost covered by the organizer. Ranch accommodation upgrades are available with a $25 discount for runners. Ranch amenities listed include a restaurant, salt water pool, laundry, and cornhole.
A post-race meal is provided for runners; the ranch restaurant will be open for crew and pacers. The event policy states there are no refunds, but registration may be deferred for any reason up to one week before race day, and registrations may be transferred up to one day before the race.
