Burney Basin Days trail runs
Burney Basin Days includes multiple trail events in Burney, CA, using part of the Historic Great Shasta Rail Trail and a forest road through the Burney Basin. The course start location is given as coordinates 40.92845, -121.64423. The access route is along Black Ranch Road from Highway 299; the start is at the rail trail crossing roughly 2 miles from 299.

The burro race requires each racer to provide their own donkey. Each burro must wear a pack saddle fitted with a shovel, pick, and pan; this equipment must be safely attached. Maximum rope length for burro handling is 15 feet. Rules specify humane treatment of burros; striking, dragging, or mistreatment will result in disqualification. Jacks (unaltered male burros) must be controlled in the presence of female burros. Burros may not carry their racer; racers may attempt to carry their burro. Water stations will be available on course.
