Burney Basin Days Trail Run
Based in Burney, California, the Burney Basin Days event features trail races through the scenic landscapes of the Burney Basin. Participants traverse sections of the Historic Great Shasta Rail Trail and navigate forest roads. The event is integrated into the town's local festivities, which traditionally include a craft fair, parade, and fireworks.
The event offers three distinct distance options:
- 5K
- 10K
- Burro race
The 5K route follows the rail trail before turning off, while the 10K participants continue further into the forest terrain. The Burro race follows specific regulations where participants must provide their own donkey. These animals are required to wear a pack saddle containing a shovel, pick, and pan.
