Event Overview
The Burney Basin Days event is a trail run held on July 3, 2026. It features three distances: a 5K, a 10K, and a Burro race. All races begin together at the same location.
Course Details
The run takes place on part of the Historic Great Shasta Rail Trail and a forest road in the Burney Basin. The start point is at the intersection where the rail trail crosses Black Ranch Road.
- 5K participants turn right before the 10K split.
- 10K runners continue on an extended route.
- Burro racers start concurrently with the runners.
Burro Race Specifics
Participants in the Burro race must provide their own donkey. Specific rules apply, including humane treatment of the animals. Burros must wear a pack saddle equipped with a shovel, pick, and pan. The maximum rope length is 15 feet. Water stations are provided along the course.
