Course

The course is an out-and-back route that goes almost completely around Burke Lake. The start and finish are at the northern end of the Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor/Merry-Go-Round parking lot on the main roadway; "Start" is painted on the road surface. Runners proceed clockwise around the lake over mildly rolling terrain. The first half mile is on the paved main roadway. After crossing a small bridge, the route turns right onto a dirt path with the lake on the right. The dirt path includes tree roots and protruding rocks. After approximately three more miles the course reaches a turnaround point located past the earthen dam, about 200 yards past the 4.0 mile marker. The return proceeds counterclockwise around the lake back to the start/finish; reaching the public marina means the turnaround was missed.
