Buffalo Stampede : Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History
The Buffalo Stampede is an annual running event organized by the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History in Bryan, Texas. The 18th edition takes place on October 10, 2026, at the museum location on Briarcrest Drive. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
Races are live Chrono timed with disposable bib tags on USATF certified out and back courses. All Sports Timing conducts timing and official results are published by the timing company. The 5K course is described as gently rolling, scenic, relatively flat, passing open country, neighborhoods, and parks, and it finishes with a downhill section. The route is marked and includes two designated cheer stations; the first two registered stations receive a cash prize and participants at selected stations receive event shirts, snacks, and museum admission.
Awards for the 5K include overall male and female trophies and first through third place age group awards in ten year increments from 12 and under up to 86 and over. All finishers in the 5K and the 1 Mile Fun Run receive finisher medals. The event is held rain or shine and entry fees are non refundable if the event is canceled for dangerous weather. Course rules prohibit skateboards, bicycles, wheeled devices, and dogs while parents with strollers are permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
