About the race
The Buffalo Stampede is the 52nd running of a road race held in Sacramento, California, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 6151 H St. The event features both 10 mile and 4 mile run and walk options.

Both courses run through Sacramento’s River Park neighborhood. The 10 mile course also follows levees along the American River, crosses the Guy West Bridge, continues on the levee to Watt Avenue, crosses the Watt Avenue Bridge, runs on the south side of the American River Parkway, returns under the H Street Bridge, and finishes at the Scottish Rite Temple. The 4 mile course starts and finishes at the same location and stays within the River Park neighborhood.
The event is organized by the Buffalo Chips Running Club, a not-for-profit group that supports public participation in running and walking and that sponsors multiple local races. Proceeds benefit youth running programs in Sacramento, including Youth Chips.
The race is part of the 2026 RunSac Race Series and is included in the NorCal 2x 10 Mile Challenge, a two-race series that pairs the Buffalo Stampede with the Alameda 10 Miler on August 8, 2026. Awards include a medal for all finishers and top three awards in five-year age groups for both distances; awards are available at the awards tent after the race.
