About the race
The Buffalo Stampede is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 6151 H Street, Sacramento, California. The event is listed as the 52nd running and is part of the 2026 RunSac Race Series.
The event offers the following distances:
- 10 Mile Run/Walk
- 4 Mile Run/Walk
The 10 mile course starts and finishes at the Scottish Rite Temple and runs approximately four miles through the River Park neighborhood before continuing on the bike path adjacent to H Street toward the river. Runners follow the levee on the south side next to CSUS, cross the Guy West Bridge, remain on the levee to Watt Avenue, cross the Watt Avenue Bridge, run on the south side of the American River Parkway, pass under the H Street Bridge, and return to the finish. The 4 mile course also starts and finishes at the Scottish Rite Temple and runs through the River Park neighborhood.
All participants who cross the finish line receive a medal. Awards are given to the top three finishers in five year age groups for both the 4 mile and 10 mile events, and awards may be picked up at the awards tent after the race. The event benefits youth running programs, including the Youth Chips, and is organized by the Buffalo Chips Running Club, a not for profit group that supports community running activities. The event is included in the NorCal 2X 10 Mile Challenge alongside the Alameda 10 Miler. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
