Buff Betty Adventure Race
The Buff Betty Women's Adventure Race takes place on 09/26/2026 at York River State Park in Williamsburg, Virginia. The event uses the park's multiuse trails, shoreline, marsh and forests and highlights the park's estuarine environment, fossil beds and beaches. The course covers about 40 miles and combines trekking, mountain biking, paddling and navigation.
Racers will encounter single track and double track riding, minimal road riding, paddling up a tidal creek, beach sections and open woods. Route choices include a wide variety of optional checkpoints; all checkpoints are optional while all Transition Areas are mandatory. The course is the original Buff Betty format and is intended to offer route and checkpoint options that vary in distance and technical demand.
Teams are scored by points and time, with the team earning the most points in the least amount of time placed highest. The race format is planned to run between eight and ten hours and offers options on the course that depend on navigation, strategy and mountain biking ability.
Registration opens May 11, 2026 and closes July 12, 2026. The listed registration fee is $160.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
