Event overview

The Bucs Bounty 5K and 1mi Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026, on the Florida SouthWestern State College campus in Punta Gorda. The event is described as the inaugural running of the race and includes a student-only K-College 5K in addition to the main races. All participants receive a short-sleeve race shirt and a numbered bib; registering by December 17, 2025 guarantees a shirt.

Course and participation details

The 5K course runs across the FSW campus, alongside the campus lake and under oak trees. Surfaces include paved roads, sidewalks, and parking lots. Wheelchair racers are welcome in the 5K; only non-motorized wheelchairs are permitted.

Competition, awards and extras

Professional timing services will be used for competitive 5K runners. Overall awards are planned for top adult and top student male and female finishers. Medals will be given to the top finishers in multiple age groups, from 9-under up to 70+, and in Master divisions at 40+, 50+, 60+, and 70+. A Best Buccaneer Costume Contest is listed, and beads will be distributed along the course.
