13th Annual Buckeye Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The event takes place in Buckeye, Arizona, using the Buckeye Municipal Airport area and surrounding roads. Distances offered include a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, 1 mile fun run, and a virtual race option. The marathon starts at Festival Foothills Elementary School, loops near the White Tank Mountains and finishes on the runway at Buckeye Municipal Airport. Half marathon, 10K, 5K and 1 mile participants start and finish at the airport with views of the White Tank Mountains on the out-and-back sections.
The marathon course has a net drop of over 530 feet. The event is run on a USATF certified course and serves as a Boston and national qualifier. All races are chip timed; the marathon has a course closure time of six hours and requires a minimum pace of 13:45 per mile. The half marathon course has a closure time of five hours.
On-course support includes water and Gatorade stations approximately every two miles on the marathon until mile 20 and then every mile thereafter; water every mile on the half marathon and 5K. GU energy gels are supplied at designated marathon and half marathon miles. Restrooms are located approximately every two miles. Participants receive a custom event medal and dri-fit tech shirt with upgrade options. There are age-group awards for the marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K.
