About the race
The 13th Annual Buckeye Marathon event takes place on January 9, 2027 in Buckeye, Arizona. Races use the Buckeye Municipal Airport area and nearby roads, with the marathon starting at Festival Foothills Elementary School and finishing on the airport runway. Distances offered include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- Virtual race option (US addresses only)
The marathon is known for a net downhill profile with a drop of over 530 feet. The course is USATF certified and serves as a Boston and national qualifier. All events are chip timed; the marathon course has a six hour closure with a required minimum pace of 13:45 per mile and the half marathon has a five hour closure.
On-course support includes water and Gatorade approximately every two miles on the marathon until mile 20 and then every mile, with water available at every mile for the half marathon and 5K. GU Energy gels are supplied at specified marathon and half marathon miles. Restrooms are placed roughly every two miles.
Participants receive a custom event medal and a dri-fit tech shirt with upgrade options. Male and female age group awards are given for the marathon, half, 10K and 5K. Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before and on race day. Marathon participants are asked to use shuttles from designated hotels. Strollers are welcome and pets are not allowed.
