Coldwater Rumble Trail Runs
Coldwater Rumble is a multi-distance trail event held at Estrella Mountain Regional Park in Goodyear, AZ. Distances offered include:
- 100 Mile
- 100K
- 50K
- 20 Mile
- 10 Mile
- 5 Mile
The courses follow desert trails through the foothills of the Sierra Estrella mountains. Many park trails have been re-worked and several new miles are used for the event. The 100 Mile format uses two 10 mile red loops followed by three 27 mile blue loops, with runners passing the start/finish area four times during the race.
Trail surfaces vary and include crushed granite single track, rocks and boulders, sandy washes, old jeep roads, and dry wash beds. A 1.5–2 mile section called Corgett Wash can be very sandy depending on recent weather. Hiking poles are permitted though they are noted as less useful; gaiters are suggested for sandy sections.
Support infrastructure includes well stocked aid stations, chip timing with live split points, and drop bag options at the Rumble headquarters for all distances; remote drop bags are permitted for the longest distances. Crews may access the start/finish area and Horse Thief Aid with restrictions on structures and camping. Pacers are allowed under specified conditions for the 100 Mile and 100K courses. The event operates as a cupless race with reusable cups provided at registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
