Buck 50 - Kattskill Bay, NY
Buck 50 is a 50K trail race scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Kattskill Bay, NY. The course starts and finishes at Camp Chingachgook on Pilot Knob Road and follows marked trails around the Lake George area. The route traverses four peaks and includes approximately 9,000 feet of total climbing.
The course route goes from Camp Chingachgook along a dirt path to the Buck Mountain trail, over Buck Mountain, then connects via Shelving Rock and Dacy Clearing Road to the Sleeping Beauty trail. From there it proceeds to Fishbrook Pond and the Black Mountain trail, summits Black Mountain, and descends to Black Mountain Point on the shore of Lake George. The route then climbs the shoulder of Erebus Mountain, returns to Dacy Clearing Road, and climbs back over Buck Mountain to finish at Camp Chingachgook.
Organizers require prior ultra-trail experience for participants. Relevant experience listed includes recent finishes at ultra distance trail races or strong performances at sub-ultra or non-trail races. Registration for the event closes on Sunday, September 20 (deadline noted in event details).
Aid stations are placed along the course: AS 1 at mile 6.6 (Dacy Clearing Road), AS 2 at mile 14.2 (Black Mountain trail) with a 5-hour cutoff, AS 3 at mile 18.6 (Black Mountain Point), AS 4 at mile 25.3 (Dacy Clearing Road) with a 9.5-hour cutoff, and the finish at mile 32.5 (Camp Chingachgook) with a 12-hour cutoff.
