Buck 50 - Kattskill bay, NY
Buck 50 is a 50K trail ultramarathon on October 3, 2026, held in Kattskill bay, New York, on the shores of Lake George. The course is in the southern Adirondacks and includes roughly 9,000 feet of climbing while crossing multiple mountain summits and lakeshore terrain.
The route begins at Camp Chingachgook on Pilot Knob Road and follows a dirt path to the Buck Mountain trail. Runners traverse Buck Mountain, then connect to the Sleeping Beauty trail via Shelving Rock and Dacy Clearing Road. From Sleeping Beauty the course links to the Black Mountain trail via Fishbrook Pond, summits Black Mountain, and drops to Black Mountain Point on the shore of Lake George. The route climbs the shoulder of Erebus Mountain, returns to Dacy Clearing Road, and then mirrors the opening section by climbing back over Buck Mountain to finish at Camp Chingachgook.
The event requires prior ultra-trail experience for entrants, such as recent finishes at ultra distance trail races or strong performances in shorter or non-trail events. Registration closes on Sun, Sep 20.
Aid stations and cutoffs are published: AS1 at mile 6.6 at Dacy Clearing Road (no cutoff), AS2 at mile 14.2 on Black Mountain trail (5 hour cutoff), AS3 at mile 18.6 at Black Mountain Point (no cutoff), AS4 at mile 25.3 at Dacy Clearing Road (9.5 hour cutoff), and the finish at mile 32.5 at Camp Chingachgook (12 hour cutoff).
