Buck 50
The Buck 50 is a 50 kilometer trail ultramarathon held near Kattskill Bay, NY on the shores of Lake George in the southern Adirondacks. The route covers remote, rugged trails and reaches roughly 9,000 feet of cumulative climbing. The event is scheduled for October 3, 2026, and both the start and finish are at Camp Chingachgook on Pilot Knob Road.
The course runs over four named peaks associated with Lake George. Runners follow a dirt path from Camp Chingachgook to Buck Mountain, then continue via Shelving Rock / Dacy Clearing Road to Sleeping Beauty. From there the route connects to the Black Mountain trail via Fishbrook Pond, summits Black Mountain, and descends to Black Mountain Point on the lake shore. The final section climbs the shoulder of Erebus Mountain, returns to Dacy Clearing Road, and climbs back over Buck Mountain to the finish at Camp Chingachgook.
Entry requires prior ultra-trail experience. Relevant experience examples listed by the organizer include recent finishes at ultra-distance trail races and strong results in sub-ultra or non-trail races.
