GPS Half Marathon
The GPS Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile race organized by the Baltimore Road Runners Club. It serves as one of the nine events in the BRRC Grand Prix Series. The course is located on the historic North Central Railroad (NCR) Trail, which has been in use since 1832. This trail provides a smooth, flat, and shady running surface.
The route starts just north of the Sparks Road crossing on the NCR Trail. Runners head north toward Monkton Road, turn back south toward Paper Mill Road, and finally head north again to finish at the original Sparks Road starting point.
Participants should note that parking is extremely limited at the immediate trail crossing. Available free parking is situated approximately 0.4 miles from the trail at the abandoned stone school building at 1036 Sparks Road. Registration for the event takes place at the old Sparks Elementary site.
The event is open to all runners, regardless of whether they are participating in the Grand Prix Series. While entry is free for club members, there is a fee for non-members, and donations are accepted. Prize money is awarded specifically to club members who finish in the top three for the male and female overall categories. To qualify for a series award, members must complete at least three of the nine scheduled Grand Prix races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
