YMCA Autumn Dash
The YMCA Autumn Dash is a running and walking event held in Shrewsbury, south-central Pennsylvania. Participants follow a loop course that begins and ends on the grounds of the W. Dale Brougher Foundation YMCA.
The race route consists of a single loop that traverses several different environments:
- 5K
The course moves from the YMCA property onto township roads and passes through the SpiriTrust Lutheran Senior-living campus and Miller Park before returning to the start location. Participants should note that strollers and dogs are prohibited on the course, as dogs are not permitted within the community park.
Safety measures for the event include professional traffic control along the route and a first aid tent provided by WellSpan Health Sports Medicine. The race uses electronic chip timing, though it utilizes a gun start where all participants begin at the same time. Results are determined when runners cross the finish mat.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as to the top three finishers in various age divisions ranging from age 8 to 70 and over. Participants who complete their registration by the early deadline are provided with a moisture-wicking long-sleeved shirt.
Parking is available on-site at the YMCA and on Fairview Court. However, the YMCA parking lot and local roads near the start line close shortly before the race begins to accommodate the safety of the runners.
