Brokenagan Backyard Ultra, Vernon BC
The event takes place at Silver Star Provincial Park at 5,500 feet elevation. The Backyard Ultra format requires runners to complete one loop each hour; the loop measures 4 miles 880 feet or 6.7056 kilometers. Each loop must be finished in under one hour and the last runner to complete a solo loop is the winner. If no participant completes more loops than others, there is no winner.
The course includes single and double track, hard pack and grassy terrain, forest, open meadows with wildflowers, marshy lowlands, and a mountain lake, using the cross-country ski trails of the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club. Backyard Ultra rules prohibit artificial aids, personal aid during a yard, and non-competitors on the course; competitors may leave the course only for restroom breaks.
The event also offers a 24-Hour Solo Endurance Run and a 24-Hour Team Relay for two-person teams on a separate course. Aid stations are fully stocked each lap with water, electrolytes, snacks, and first aid. The staging area provides space for aid tents, massage therapy, professional timing, a custom bib, a swag bag, and a finisher prize.
Early registration fee is listed at 100 CAD per runner until January 31, 2026. Participants must be 18 years or older on race day; minors may participate with prior permission from the Race Director. Registration is handled through UltraSignup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
