Brokenagan Backyard Ultra and 24 Hour Endurance Run
This event takes place on July 24, 2027 in Silver Star Provincial Park near Vernon, BC and is organized by Bush Babes. The venue sits at about 5,500 feet and uses well maintained cross-country ski trails of the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club.
Race formats
- Backyard Ultra loop 4.17 miles (approx 6.71 km) every hour
- 24 hour solo endurance run using 5 km loops
Backyard Ultra format requires runners to complete one loop each hour on the hour; missing the start of the next loop results in elimination. The Backyard Ultra course is a 4.17 mile loop composed of single and double track, a mix of hard pack and grassy terrain, and varied elevation. The route passes through forest, open meadows with wildflowers, marshy lowlands, and by a mountain lake.
The 24 hour endurance run is held on a separate course where competitors complete as many 5 km loops as they can within 24 hours.
Registration and entry Registration opens November 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM PT via UltraSignup. Early entry fee until January 31, 2027 is CAD 100. Participants must be 18 years or older on race day; minors may participate with prior permission from the Race Director. Optional extras include a t-shirt guarantee and a meal for additional fees.
Support and amenities A manned aid station is available each lap from 11:00 to 15:00 offering water, Tailwind, GU gels, electrolytes, fruit, snacks, music, massage during those hours, and volunteer support. Participants receive a custom bib, swag bag, and finisher prize. A large staging area is provided for aid tents and rest between laps.
