Event Information
The Brokenagan Backyard Ultra is an ultrarunning event held at Silver Star Provincial Park near Vernon, British Columbia. The event offers two main formats.
The Backyard Ultra format follows specific rules: a 4-mile (6.7056 km) loop course must be run every hour, on the hour. Runners who miss the start of a loop are eliminated. The winner is the last runner to complete a solo loop.
The 24-Hour format offers a solo endurance run or a 2-person team relay. Participants attempt to complete as many loops as possible within 24 hours. A separate course is planned for the relay event.
The course, situated at approximately 5,500 feet elevation, uses the cross-country ski trails of the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club. It is described as a mix of single and double-track trails with varied terrain (hard pack, grass) and elevation gain. The loop winds through forest, open wildflower meadows, marshy lowlands, and past a mountain lake.
