Brokenagan Backyard Ultra : Event overview
The Brokenagan takes place on July 25, 2026, at Silver Star Provincial Park in Vernon, BC, at an elevation of 5,500 feet. The event offers three race formats: a 24-Hour Solo Endurance Run, a 24-Hour 2-person Team Relay, and a Backyard Ultra. In the 24-hour formats participants complete as many loops as they can within 24 hours. The Backyard Ultra requires one loop every hour, on the hour; missing the start of the next loop results in elimination. The last runner to complete an additional solo loop is declared the winner; if no runner completes more loops than the others, there is no winner.
Course, support and entry
The course is a 4.17-mile loop on single and double track trails with a mix of hard pack and grassy surfaces. The route passes through alpine forest, open meadows, marshy lowlands, and alongside a mountain lake, and it uses the cross-country ski trails of the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club. Aid stations are available each lap and offer water, electrolytes, snacks, and first aid. Event support also includes music, a sponsor expo, volunteers, massage therapy at the staging area, custom bibs, swag bags, finisher prizes, and professional timing. Early entry is $100 until April 30; regular entry is $120 from May 1. Prices exclude applicable taxes and processing fees; racer meal and event t-shirt are not included. Registration closes July 17.
