Broad River Half Marathon Run/Hike
The Broad River Half Marathon is a trail event held in Harbison State Forest, located just outside Columbia, South Carolina. Spanning over 2,000 acres along the Broad River, the forest provides a landscape of tall pines, hardwoods, and winding singletrack trails. Participants navigate a course featuring rolling hills, tranquil stream crossings, and varied elevation changes through autumn woodlands.
The event offers a single race distance:
- Half Marathon
This is a cupless event, requiring participants to carry their own hydration flasks or cups. Three aid stations are positioned along the course at mile 4.8, mile 11, and the start/finish area. These stations provide water, soda, and snacks such as pickles, cookies, chips, and candy. The course is well-marked and has a 10-hour time limit for completion.
Participants receive a custom-branded race bib and a finisher medal. Registration includes the forest entry fee and access to a post-race Southern-style meal with vegetarian options. On-site facilities include portable restrooms at the start/finish line; however, no restrooms are available on the course. Dog owners may participate with their pets, and the use of headphones is permitted. Personal tents and drop bags can be set up in a designated area near the gazebo.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from under 9 to over 80. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
