Event Overview
Britta's Chase is a 5K running event held entirely within the San Antonio Zoo. The event, which supports the nonprofit Meant to Soar, offers a unique course that passes by animal exhibits during the cooler morning hours. A separate Fun Kids Dash, a quarter-mile loop for children five and under, is also held.
Course and Features
The race is noted for its Cash Chase Challenge, where a $100 prize is awarded to the leading male and female runner at both the one-mile and two-mile marks. Additional prize money is awarded to the overall race winners if they finish under specific time standards. Every 5K participant receives a finisher medal, with special awards for age group winners and top three overall finishers. Children in the dash also receive finisher medals. All participants receive a kite from Meant to Soar.
Logistics
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a designated running store. Parking is available at the San Antonio Zoo lot. Strollers are permitted but must start at the back of the field.
