Britta's Chase 5K at the San Antonio Zoo
Britta's Chase is a timed 5K run held inside the San Antonio Zoo that benefits Meant to Soar, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving children affected by parental substance use and human trafficking. The event is presented by Goya Foods and features a course that passes animal habitats, with course marshals and signage to keep runners on route. Organizers note music, water misters, and lights in the trees along the course.
Awards include customized finisher medals for all participants, place medals for the top three overall and in age categories, and special age group medals. A competitive cash challenge awards $100 at both the one mile and two mile markers to the leading male and female at those points. Additional prize money includes a $300 bonus for an overall male or female winner who meets the published time standards.
A separate Fun Kids Dash is offered for children five years and younger on a quarter mile loop, with medals for top finishers and finisher medals for all participants. Strollers are allowed but must line up at the back of the starting area for safety. Packet pickup is available prior to race day at Fleet Feet at The Rim. Parking and the main entry are located at the San Antonio Zoo grounds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
