Britta's Chase 5K @ SA Zoo
Britta's Chase is a running event held inside the San Antonio Zoo on September 26, 2026. The event benefits Meant To Soar, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) that supports children who have experienced trauma from parental drug or alcohol addiction or scarring from human trafficking. Every participant receives a Meant To Soar high flying kite.
Distances include:
- 5K Run through the zoo
- Fun Kids Dash (1/4 mile loop) for children five and under
The 5K uses a course approved to run inside the zoo with signage and course marshals to keep participants on route. The event includes music, water misters, and lights in the trees; animals may be visible along the route. Organizers award customized finisher medals, age group medals, and top-three medals for both male and female categories.
The event features a "cash chase challenge": $100 bills are handed out to the male and female runners who lead at the 1 and 2 mile markers. Additional performance prizes include $300 awarded to the male winner who finishes under 15:15 and to the female winner who finishes under 18:15. The kids dash awards gold, silver, and bronze medals to the first three finishers and finisher medals to all other participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
