Bright Ideas 5K at Cypress Gardens
The Bright Ideas 5K takes place at Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner. This event marks the fifth annual edition of the race, which features a certified course. Participants encounter varied terrain while running through the Lowcountry landscape. The event includes a single distance:
- 3.1 Miles
The course utilizes the road leading into Cypress Gardens. For the safety of participants, this road closes to vehicle traffic shortly before the event begins and reopens once the final athlete has cleared the area. Because parking at the venue is limited, a shuttle service is provided from a remote lot at the former DuPont site, now known as Celanese.
Registration proceeds and sponsor contributions benefit the Berkeley Electric Cooperative Bright Ideas Education Grant Program. This initiative provides funding for innovative classroom projects in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties that traditional school budgets do not cover. K-12 teachers within the service territory are eligible to apply for these grants, and the recipients are recognized during the post-race awards ceremony.
Participants can collect their race packets on the day before the event at the Carnes Crossroads Fleet Feet location or on-site at Cypress Gardens on the morning of the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
