Bridge Day 5K RUN
The Bridge Day 5K RUN is scheduled for October 17, 2026, in Fayetteville, West Virginia, with event operations centered at the Fayette County Memorial Building. The course begins on the north side of the New River Gorge Bridge and follows a southbound route across the bridge to a finish on Court Street in the town of Fayetteville.
The event is a run only; walking is not permitted because of restricted road closures associated with the Official Bridge Day activities. Entry is limited to 500 racers and the minimum age to participate is 8. The organizer notes open age range and provides finisher medals to all finishers plus top finisher medals for male and female competitors in the following age groups: 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
For safety during the first mile participants must maintain a pace of 15 minutes per mile; after the initial mile runners may take walking breaks or adopt a slower pace. The event is sponsored by West Virginia University Institute of Technology and proceeds support Active SWV programs, including Kids Run Clubs and Community Captains. The organizer does not mail race bibs, shirts, finisher medals, or awards as a standard practice; mailed items may be available after the event for a requested donation to cover shipping.
