Brevard Classic 5K & 12K
The Brevard Classic 5K and 12K takes place in downtown Brevard, North Carolina during White Squirrel Weekend on May 29, 2027. Both routes start and finish in the downtown area near shops and restaurants and run on community-lined streets and nearby greenways.
The event offers these distances:
- 5K | 3.1 miles
- 12K | 7.4 miles
The courses include rolling hills, shady stretches, country roads, and sections along East Main Street. The route is well marked and staffed with volunteers. Timing uses a MyLaps chip system and results are professionally recorded. All finishers receive a custom commemorative medal, and professional race photos are available for free after the event. Registrants receive a complimentary race shirt with registration made by April 25, 2027 (shirt purchases are $25 after that deadline).
The 12K includes cash prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers for 2027. Overall and age group awards are offered. A virtual race option is available; virtual participants receive mailed swag. Deferral and race-distance change options are provided under the event policies, with deferral requests accepted up to 15 days before race day and fees that vary by distance. UNC Health Pardee is the presenting sponsor and will provide medical support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
