Brett/Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon : Gulf Shores, AL
The event is a multi-distance triathlon staged at Gulf Shores West Beach Public Beach (Town Green) and The Hangout in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The race marks its 20th anniversary in 2027 and is organized with multiple divisions and relay options.
Distances:
- Swim: Sprint 300 m, Olympic 1.5 km
- Bike: Sprint 12.4 miles, Olympic 24.8 miles
- Run: Sprint 2 miles, Olympic 6 miles
The swim is run as a time-trial with racers entering the water approximately every three seconds and start order assigned by estimated swim time. Local water safety groups provide rescue support; if water is unsafe, the swim will be replaced by a run and the event will be conducted as a duathlon. Wetsuit use follows USAT temperature rules and may affect eligibility for rankings or age-group awards when water temperature is at or above 78.1°F.
The bike courses use W. Beach Blvd as an out-and-back route; the Olympic distance completes two loops of the sprint course. Transition areas are organized by race number and bike rack rows are signed. Athletes must walk their bikes to a BIKE MOUNT line to begin and dismount at the same line to return to their rack.
Run courses are out-and-back on E. Beach Blvd east of The Hangout; aid stations with water and energy drinks are available approximately every mile.
