Breakaway 5K - Old Orchard Beach, ME
The Breakaway 5K is a road race held in Old Orchard Beach that raises funds for the MAPS Scholarship Foundation. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit the foundation, which awarded sixteen $1,000 scholarships to local graduates in 2025.
The course starts at the corner of Walnut Street and Milliken Street in front of the public parking lot, follows Milliken Street and West Grand Avenue to Ocean Park, and returns to finish at The Brunswick. The route is mostly flat.
Online registration opens January 1, 2026. The event lists a registration fee of $30. A race T-shirt is available to the first 300 registrants. Pre-race packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Milliken Street parking lot near the start; race day packet pick-up begins at 6:00 am at the same lot. Race day parking is available in the public lot on Milliken Street until 10:00 am. A post-race continental breakfast and awards ceremony are held at The Brunswick on the beach.
