The 30th Annual Breakaway 5K takes place on August 15, 2026 in Old Orchard Beach, ME. The event program includes:

- Marilyn & Nat Golzbein Memorial Fun Run - open to ages 12 and under
The 5K entry fee is $30; the Fun Run fee is $25. Registration opens January 1, 2026 and closes on Monday, August 10, 2026. The first 300 registered runners will receive a race T-shirt. There are 600 spots listed as available for the 5K. Pre-race packet pick up is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026 and race day packet pick up is available on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Free race day parking is available in the public lot on Milliken Street.
Course and purpose
The race start location is at the corner of Walnut St. and Milliken St., in front of the public parking lot. The course follows Milliken St. and West Grand Avenues to Ocean Park and returns to finish at The Brunswick, 39 W. Grand Ave. The course is described as mostly flat. Proceeds are the principal fundraiser for the MAPS Scholarship Foundation; 100% of the proceeds directly benefit the foundation. In 2025, the foundation granted sixteen $1,000 scholarships. A post-race continental breakfast and awards ceremony are held at The Brunswick; the continental breakfast is listed at $8 per person.
