The Breakaway 5K and the Marilyn & Nat Golzbein Memorial Fun Run take place in Old Orchard Beach, Maine on August 15, 2026. The event is organized to raise funds for the MAPS Scholarship Foundation, which awards scholarships to Old Orchard Beach High School graduates. In 2025 the foundation granted sixteen $1,000 scholarships. The race finish and post-race activities are at The Brunswick, 39 W. Grand Ave., Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064.

The race start location is at the corner of Walnut St. and Milliken St., in front of the public parking lot. The course follows Milliken St. and West Grand Avenue to Ocean Park and returns to The Brunswick. The course is described as mostly flat. A race T-shirt is provided to the first 300 registered participants. A post-race continental breakfast and awards ceremony are held at The Brunswick; the breakfast has a listed cost of $8 per person.
Registration opens January 1, 2026 and closes on Monday, August 10, 2026. Entry fees listed are $30 for the 5K and $25 for the fun run. Pre-race packet pick up is Friday, August 14, 2026, 4:00-6:00 pm at the Milliken Mills parking lot. Race day packet pick up begins at 6:00 am at the same lot.
