The 30th Annual Breakaway 5K

The Breakaway 5K is an established running event held in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. The 2026 edition marks the 30th year of this community race. Participants can choose between two primary events:

Fun Run

The Fun Run is named the Marilyn & Nat Golzbein Fun Run. Both events take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Registration for the races is open until Monday, August 10, 2026.

Logistical arrangements include pre-race packet pick up on Friday, August 14, at the Milliken Street parking lot between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. On the day of the race, packet pick up is available at the same location starting in the early morning.

A post-race gathering is held at The Brunswick. This portion of the event includes a continental breakfast available for a fee of $8 per person. The gathering also hosts the awards ceremony and the announcement of winners for the online auction. The event is organized by OOBMAPS, an organization that provides scholarships to local recipients.
