Break 4 the Border Half Marathon
The event is a cross border Half Marathon that follows the newly completed Greenway between Newry and Carlingford. The route starts in Newry, includes a short road section before joining the Greenway at Albert Basin, and then runs along a mostly traffic free path of tarmac and soft shingle beside Carlingford Lough. The course passes through the village of Omeath and finishes at Carlingford Marina. There is no 10 km option for this year because part of the Greenway is closed for the erection of Narrow Water Bridge.
Logistics include a bag drop in Newry with bags transported to the finish. Participants who park in Carlingford are transported to the start by bus, and those who park in Newry are bused back from the finish; entrants are asked to indicate their parking choice so organisers can plan buses. Race packs are posted to entrants, with a postal option that requires choosing either NI or ROI postage at entry and an additional postal charge indicated.
Entry information notes a minimum age of 17 for the Half Marathon and that there is no junior option. An early bird entry fee of 40 is available until 03/06/2026, rising to 45 thereafter. The event has a charity partnership with the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and offers an option to make a voluntary donation at entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
