Brandon Heritage 5K Social Run - Sunday 20 September 2026
The event is a free 5K social group run that starts and finishes at Brandon Remembrance Playing Fields in Brandon, Suffolk. The route is a loop that uses footpaths, dirt tracks and pavements and passes sites that illustrate Brandon’s heritage, traditions and natural landscapes. The run is part of Brandon’s contribution to Heritage Open Days and other related activities are scheduled in the two weeks beforehand.
Depending on the weather there may be mud or puddles on parts of the route. Under 16s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult from start to finish because the course runs by a river and sluice and crosses a few roads. Run Leaders will move at the pace of the slowest runner and may split the group into two or more as required. There will be no medals, no stopwatches and no cut off times. Organisers will provide a route map and a GPX file; participants who run ahead are responsible for finding their own way back. Drinking water will be available at the start and drinks and snacks at the finish. Marshals will be present at the start and finish where parking is also located so participants can leave a change of clothes in their cars. There is free parking, no dogs or running buggies allowed, a limit of 25 runners on a first come first served basis, and no toilets at the immediate site.
