Brandon Heritage 5K Social Run
This is a free 5K social group run at Brandon Remembrance Playing Fields in Brandon. The route is a loop using footpaths, dirt tracks and pavements that passes sites illustrating Brandon’s heritage, traditions and natural landscapes. The event is one element of Brandon’s participation in Heritage Open Days.
Organisers provide a route map and a GPX file for use on a watch or phone. Run leaders set the pace to match the slowest runner and may split the group into two or more groups as needed. Participants who move ahead of the group are responsible for their own navigation on the route.
Under 16s may take part only when accompanied by an adult from start to finish, because the route runs by a river sluice at the start and includes several road crossings. Depending on weather, parts of the course may be muddy or include puddles. There are marshals at the start and finish and parking is available nearby; participants may leave a change of clothes in their vehicle.
There are no medals, no stopwatches and no cut-off times. Drinks and snacks are provided at the finish area and drinking water is available at the start. Dogs and running buggies are not permitted and the event is limited to 25 runners on a first come, first served basis. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
