Brain Freezer 5K
The Brain Freezer 5K is a running event held in Burlington, Vermont, featuring a 5 km course. The route takes place on the bike path alongside Lake Champlain, connecting North Beach and Waterfront Park. Participants navigate a course that includes an ice cream eating station located in Water Works Park.
The event offers two participation formats. Challengers are required to run half of the 5 km distance, consume a full pint of Vermont-made ice cream, and then complete the remainder of the race. A "fun runner" option is available for those who prefer to participate without the requirement of finishing a full pint of ice cream.
The event includes a costume competition with prizes awarded for the best individual and team costumes. All proceeds from the race are directed to People Helping People Global. This Vermont-based international development organization focuses on providing interest-free microloans to individuals living on less than 2 dollars per day. The race begins at North Beach Park and utilizes a route that was established in previous years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
