Bradbury Breaker

The Bradbury Breaker is a trail race held at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal, Maine, on July 12, 2026. The course covers 9 miles arranged as two laps of a hilly, technical single-track loop that includes sustained climbs and classic forest trails with rocks and roots.

The event enforces a race cutoff of 3 hours, equivalent to a 20-minute mile pace. Field size is limited to 180 runners; there is no waiting list, no bib transfers, and no same-day registration. Limited parking at the park is cited as a reason for the small field size.

All registered runners receive a custom race T-shirt distributed at bib pickup; runners must be present to receive their shirt. The overall male and female winners select first from the prize table. Additional prizes are awarded by random drawing among winners in each decade age group.

The Breaker is part of the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series, also called the Badass Bradbury Races. Runners who finish four races in the series within the cutoff times earn a Bad Ass Hoodie, which is distributed after the fourth qualifying race. Overall series champions receive a handcrafted Adirondack chair in addition to other series awards.

The event is organized by Trail Monster Running, a not-for-profit group run by unpaid volunteers. Proceeds support race equipment and local outdoor and trail-related charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
