Event overview

The 2025 Boxing Day running event takes place on December 26 at Wakefield Park, 8100 Braddock Rd, Annandale, VA 22003. The event offers both 5k and 10k distances. Points from these races count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series and toward the Fall Series. A virtual race option is available. The event benefits Warriors Ethos, an organization that assists service members, veterans, spouses, and caregivers with career planning, professional development, and placement.

Course, entries and services

The course runs on paved park trails toward Americana Park, with a short section of light gravel dirt path; both distances are out-and-back and mostly flat. Walkers and strollers are permitted. Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri-fit) event shirt, and chip timing. Live results are posted on Athlinks and final results with series points are published the Monday after the race. Photos taken by staff are posted after the event.

Packet pickup is available at the event; participants are advised to arrive about one hour before their race. Race day registration is offered. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations received before December 12. Early registration fees: 5k $30 (until December 15), 10k $45 (until December 15); later fees increase to $35 and $50, respectively, and prices increase by $5 on race morning. Water stations: three on the 10k (approx. miles 1.55, 3.1, 4.65) and one on the 5k (approx. mile 1.55). Restrooms are located inside the Wakefield RECenter.
