Bowland Trail Half 2027
The Bowland Trail Half is an unmarked mixed-terrain event starting and finishing at Slaidburn in the Forest of Bowland. The route is roughly 13 miles with about 2,000 ft of ascent and includes vehicle tracks that can be fast and runnable, flowing singletrack, sections of road and boggy climbs. Runners follow a written route description and receive a map; a GPX route file is available from the race website and is sent in the final race email. Marshals are positioned at key points but not at every junction, and there is a mandatory kit list for safety.
The event is a fundraiser for Morecambe Bay foodbank and local foodbanks. Finishers receive a meal and a memento. Entry requires participants to be 18 or older. Entry windows and fees are published for the event, with early entries at £34 and standard entries at £39; affiliated club membership can qualify for a £4 discount. Refunds and transfers follow the organiser’s stated schedule: transfers and refunds are possible until 1 November with administration fees, refunds until 1 December subject to a 50% reduction, and restricted changes from 1 December and 1 January as specified by the organiser.
Because the event is held in January in the north, conditions can include rain, ice, snow, wind and frost; participants should prepare accordingly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
