Bournemouth's Town to Trail : 8 Mile Trail Run
Bournemouth's Town to Trail is an urban to trail running event that covers 8 miles on a loop starting and finishing by Bournemouth Square. The route moves from the town centre through Victorian gardens and tree lined paths, then into Meyrick Park's pines, heath and open parkland.
The course is fully marked and includes mixed surfaces with light undulation and a total climb of 81 metres. Organisers rate the route difficulty 2 out of 5. Trail shoes are recommended but not essential, and the guide states that if a runner can cover 5 km in an hour they should complete the course. There is one on course aid station located in Meyrick Park. Chip timing, results and a finisher's medal are provided.
Race HQ and registration are on the first floor of Bobby's & Co at PATCH in Bournemouth Square, where bib and chip collection and bag drop are handled and where an after party will take place with the bar open and cake available. The start line is at the pagoda in Middle Gardens, close to the registration venue. A GPX file is available for download to follow the route on a phone or sports watch.
