Bournemouth International Triathlon
Bournemouth International Triathlon takes place at West Cliff Gardens on the west side of Bournemouth Pier. The event has been raced by thousands of athletes, including Olympians and athletes who later turned professional.
Swims for both sprint and standard distances start on the award-winning blue flag beach beneath the zig zag of West Cliff Gardens. The bike route runs out of Bournemouth on a primarily fast course toward the market town of Ringwood, on the edge of The New Forest. The running leg finishes along the promenade, returning to the sand.
Routes include:
- Sprint Distance Triathlon: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
- Standard Distance Triathlon: 1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run
- Aquathlon Sprint: 750m swim, 5km run
- Aquabike Standard: 1500m swim, 40km bike
The event organiser operates an official marshalling programme. Volunteer duties can include car parking, registration support, course marshalling and staffing water stations; volunteers receive a high visibility vest and a thank-you entry code for future events. A Code of Conduct is in place to encourage respect, mutual support and good sportsmanship among participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
