Bournemouth International Triathlon
Bournemouth International Triathlon is staged from West Cliff Gardens on the west side of Bournemouth Pier. The event has run on the South Coast for many years and has been entered by large numbers of competitors including Olympians and athletes who later turned professional.
Both sprint and standard swims start on the award winning blue flag beach beneath the zig zag of West Cliff Gardens. The bike course leads out of Bournemouth on a route towards the market town of Ringwood at the edge of The New Forest. The event finishes with a run along the seafront promenade that returns competitors to the sand.
Routes include:
- Sprint Distance Triathlon: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
- Standard Distance Triathlon: 1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run
- Aquathlon Sprint: 750m swim, 5km run
- Aquabike Standard: 1500m swim, 40km bike
Volunteers support event operations including car parking, registration, course marshalling and water stations. Volunteers are briefed by a dedicated manager and wear a high visibility vest. As a thank you, volunteers receive a free entry code to use at future events.
