The Walk ’n Mass Volkssport Club hosts an AVA Signature Event in Boston on August 28 and 29, 2026, with walks departing from a meeting room adjacent to the lobby of the Courtyard by Marriott – South Boston. The program includes four marked routes that explore historic and scenic areas of the city and offer IVV credit.

The Castle Island route is a map-guided traditional event with options: the 6 km and 11 km routes go to Castle Island (the 6 km returns via public bus), and an alternate 5 km route stays onshore through Moakley Park. Restrooms and water bottle filling stations are available at Castle Island and Moakley Park. The Freedom Trail route visits central historic sites and waterfront landmarks. Back Bay routes pass Beacon Hill, Commonwealth Avenue, Newbury Street, Copley Square and portions of major shopping centers. The Special Places route highlights the Charles River Esplanade, Bay Village, the Armory and other lesser known sites.
Pre-registration is required for the social gatherings and is encouraged for the walks; a pre-registration deadline is stated. On-site registration and IVV stamping will be available at the hotel meeting room and during the social events. A limited embroidered patch depicting the Old and New State Houses may be purchased for $4. Trail rating for all routes is 1B, indicating difficulty for strollers and wheelchairs. Restrooms and some refreshments are provided at the Start/Finish and on the Castle Island route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
