Boston 5K
The Boston 5K is organized by the Boston Athletic Association and is scheduled for April 18, 2026. The race covers a 5K route, about 3.1 miles, running through Boston's Back Bay neighborhood.
The course starts adjacent to Boston Common, continues up Commonwealth Avenue, passes through Kenmore Square, and finishes at the Boston Marathon Finish Line. The event is held on the same weekend as the B.A.A. Invitational Mile and is part of Patriots' Day weekend activities.
The race plans for 10,000 participants on race day. In 2025 there were more than 9,000 finishers, and eight Para Athletics Division event records were set that year. The event includes Para and Adaptive divisions with defined eligibility, divisions, and classifications, and it attracts professional athletes including national and international competitors.
Special Olympics Massachusetts is listed as the official fundraising partner. The organizer provides information and resources for athletes, para and adaptive participants, spectators, volunteers, media, and pro athletes. Results and course maps are published by the organizer after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
