Event overview
The Bookin’ It 5K takes place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Sandy Creek Park, 400 Bob Holman Road, Athens, GA 30607. The event is organized to benefit the Friends of the ACC Library, a volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the Athens-Clarke County Library. The event includes in-person and virtual options.
Distances and course
- 5K
- 3.1 miles (virtual)
- Fun Run that covers three quarters of a loop around the park circle and finishes on the beach access road.
The 5K course runs completely inside the park on paved surfaces.
Registration, shirts and virtual option
Registration for all events closes February 19, 2026. Posted race fees are $35 for the 5K, $20 for the Fun Run, and $30 for the Virtual 5K (platform fees listed separately). Long-sleeve T-shirts are new this year and are guaranteed for runners who register by January 30, 2026; after that date shirts are available while supplies last. Virtual runners must be registered as virtual participants, may run anywhere, and must submit finish times by 12 noon on February 22; virtual runners are not eligible for T-shirts or race day awards.
Awards and race management
5K awards are given to Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, and first place in standard 5-year age groups from "10 and Under" through "80 and Over." Finish line management and timing are provided by a professional race services company. Proceeds support library programs and services.
