Bollihope Carrs Fell Race

The Bollihope Carrs Fell Race is a medium-length (BM) fell race held in Weardale, County Durham. The course covers a distance of 11 km with a total ascent of 380 m. The event starts from the Bollihope Quarry car park, situated 3 km South West of Frosterley.

The route follows a path west along the river before ascending across rough ground to reach the summit of Bollihope Carrs. From the summit, the course descends East to the summit of Catterick before a final descent leads back to the original starting location.

Because the terrain is rough and the route is unmarked, participants must be able to navigate using a map and compass, particularly in poor visibility. The use of GPS for navigation and the use of poles are not permitted. Participation is limited to individuals aged 18 or older, and there is an entry limit of 50 participants due to Natural England restrictions.

Required safety equipment for all participants includes a map, compass, whistle, hat, gloves, and waterproof clothing. Specifically, a waterproof jacket and trousers must have a hood and taped seams. Registration is available in advance or on the day of the event, with a entry fee discount provided for FRA members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
