Event Details

The Bollihope Carrs Fell Race is a medium-length fell race (BM category) covering 11 km with 380 meters of ascent. The event starts and finishes at the Bollihope Quarry car park, located approximately 3 kilometers southwest of Frosterley in Weardale, County Durham.

Route Description

The course begins by heading west along a river before climbing up rough ground to the summit of Bollihope Carrs. Runners then descend east to the summit of Catterick before a quick descent leads back to the start. The race presents lots of route choice, as illustrated by GPS tracks from previous participants. Organizers provide a map for navigation.

Mandatory Kit and Restrictions

Full FRA (Fell Runners Association) kit is required. This includes a map, compass, whistle, hat, gloves, waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, and waterproof trousers with taped seams. No GPS devices are permitted for navigation, and in poor conditions, the use of map and compass is necessary to follow the route safely. Poles are not allowed. There is an entry limit of 50 participants due to Natural England restrictions.

Entry Information

On-the-day entry is available. The entry fee is £5 for FRA members or £6 for non-members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
