Wasdale (Wasdale Show)
Wasdale is a fell race held during the Wasdale Show on Saturday 10 October 2026 at Wasdale Head, West Cumbria (postcode CA20 1EX). The course climbs to the summit of Kirk Fell and is noted for a steep ascent and descent along the route.
The advertised race distance is 2.40 miles (3.80 km) with approximately 2,300 feet (700 metres) of climb. The event counts as a BOFRA Championship counter and includes senior and junior routes. Age categories listed are Under 12, Under 14, Under 17 and Seniors; there is no Under 9s category for this race.
Compulsory kit requirements are specified by age: Under 12 and Under 14 competitors must carry a waterproof jacket with taped seams. Under 17 and Senior competitors must carry a waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, plus hat and gloves. Fluorescent jackets without taped seams are not acceptable. The organiser states that lacking required kit will prevent participation.
