Event overview
The BMF UTA Stair Training / Taper Run takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026 in Katoomba, New South Wales. The meeting location is Violet Street opposite Scenic World. The training run is organised by Blue Mountains Fitness in collaboration with The Body Mechanic and is aligned with STREEK.RUN UTA base and event-specific race training plans. The session forms the end of week 14 of a 16-week Ultra Trail Australia training program.
Course, groups and requirements
The route will include the UTA11 course as a minimum and may use additional UTA trails to reach up to 24 km. The exact route may change because of National Parks or council closures, landslides, floods or other unforeseen circumstances. Trainers hold a National Parks and Wildlife Service ECO PASS licence and insurance to conduct training within the National Park.
There will be multiple pace groups, typically three: a slower group, a mid-paced group and a faster group. A walker group may be added if required. Participants should bring the UTA22 mandatory gear and carry enough food and hydration for the expected duration of about 2 to 3.5 hours. The minimum age for this training run is 12 years.
Fees and participant information
Standard fees are listed as $65 for participants aged 16 and over and $50 for ages 11 to 15. A full information sheet with meeting points and course details will be provided to participants before the training day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
