BMF UTA Stair Training / Taper Run
This training run takes place on Violet Street in Katoomba and uses sections of the Ultra Trail Australia (UTA) trails. It is presented as a final training and taper opportunity held about two weeks before Ultra Trail Australia. The route will include the UTA11 course at minimum, with additional open UTA trails added to extend the route up to 11 to 24 km. The exact course may change because of National Parks or council closures, landslides, floods or other unforeseen circumstances.
Run leaders align the session with STREEK.RUN UTA base training plans and event specific UTA race plans, and the run forms the end of week 14 of a 16 week Locker Room race plan. The organisers hold a National Parks and Wildlife Service ECO PASS licence and insurance to operate within the National Park.
Three main pace groups are offered: TURTLES, a mid paced group and SPEEDY HARES. A walker group and a walk trainer may be added if required. Guides stay with participants and manage pacing, group splits and course navigation. Participants are asked to carry the UTA22 mandatory gear and enough food and fluids for the session.
Minimum age for this training run is 12. Fees are A$65 for ages 16 and over and A$50 for ages 11 to 15. Participants receive an information sheet before the training day with meeting points and a course map. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
