Bluff Land Triathlon
The Bluff Land Triathlon is an annual event hosted by the Foundation for Rushford-Peterson Schools that raises scholarship funds for Rushford-Peterson High School seniors. It takes place in the Rushford Peterson Valley and brings together a wide range of participants, from experienced triathletes to people attempting a triathlon for the first time. Ages represented span from pre-teen to senior citizens, and families often participate together.
Volunteers are positioned along the route to assist and encourage participants. Volunteers provide support to all competitors, including those who finish last.
The event consists of these segments:
- 3.1 mile run along Root River Trail from Creekside toward Houston and back.
- 15.5 mile bike on Root River Trail past Peterson and back to Creekside.
- 2.1 mile hike to the top of Magelssen Bluff and back.
The triathlon starts and stops at Creekside Park in Rushford. All transitions occur at Creekside Park and parking is available there. Training programs are offered in beginner and intermediate formats. Entry fees for 2026 are listed by category with a $10 increase after June 9. Fee categories include individual Run-Bike-Hike, adult 3-person relay, and student rates for individuals and relays. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
