Bluff Land Tri
The Bluff Land Tri is an annual event hosted by the Foundation for Rushford-Peterson Schools that raises scholarship funds for Rushford-Peterson High School seniors. It is held in the Rushford Peterson Valley and starts and stops at Creekside Park in Rushford, where all transitions take place and parking is available.
The course consists of three segments:
- 3.1 mile run from Creekside toward Houston on the Root River Trail and back
- 15.8 mile bike from Creekside past Peterson on the Root River Trail and back
- 2.1 mile hike from Creekside to the top of Magelssen Bluff and back down
Participants include a wide age range from pre-teen to senior citizens and often involve families and friends. Volunteers are spaced along the route to assist and encourage participants, and volunteers remain available to support those finishing last.
The event provides training resources, including beginner and intermediate programs. Posted entry fees for 2026 list individual Run-Bike-Hike rates and relay options, with separate student rates under 18 and a $10 increase for entries after June 9. Event shirts are offered for purchase with a July 15 deadline and a stated cost of $15, payable by cash or check at pickup.
