Blues Cruise 50K Trail Ultramarathon and Relay
The Blues Cruise is the 21st running of a 50K trail ultramarathon that circles Blue Marsh Lake near Reading, PA. The course is roughly 31 miles and runs through woods and fields with single track, rolling hills, and less than 0.5 miles of public roadway. It features a major climb called the "Ski Slope" with about 240 feet of vertical gain and one optional water crossing that can be splashed through or crossed on a bridge.
The event includes seven themed aid stations that are stocked and staffed by local ultrarunners. A 9-hour time limit is strictly enforced; aid stations 5, 6, and 7 have cutoff times and a sweep vehicle is available for runners who are removed from the course. Camping is available for a fee.
There is a relay option for teams of 2 to 4 runners. Teams must designate a captain who registers the team; each relay member registers individually. Relay teams complete one or more of four legs: 50K (about 31 miles), Leg 1 ~4.7 miles, Leg 2 ~13.3 miles, Leg 3 ~7.1 miles, Leg 4 ~6.75 miles. Aid station support is limited for relay teams. Prizes are awarded for fastest teams.
All registered runners are invited to post race activities including a buffet, drinks, and physical therapy services. Race shirts are ordered for registrants signed up by August 31. The refund guarantee option from SPOT is available to cover individual inability to participate but does not cover event cancellations. Registration closes September 28 at 11:59 PM ET.
