Blues Cruise 50K Trail Ultramarathon
The Blues Cruise is a 50K trail ultramarathon held near Reading, PA that circles Blue Marsh Lake. The course is approximately 31 miles and passes through woods and fields, with plenty of rolling hills, single track, and less than 0.5 miles of public roadway. The Ski Slope is the only major climb with about 240 feet of vertical gain. There is one optional water crossing with a bridge alternative.
The course is supported by seven themed aid stations that are well stocked and staffed by local ultra runners. A 9 hour time limit is strictly enforced. Cutoffs at aid stations five, six, and seven are used to meet this deadline and a sweep vehicle is available for runners who are cut; some wait time can be expected. Camping is available for a small fee.
Relay teams of two to four runners divide the course into four legs. A team captain must register the team and add a team name prior to other team member registrations. Each team member registers individually and relay per person fees are lower than the 50K entry fee. Prizes are awarded for the fastest teams and aid station support is more limited for relay runners.
All registered runners have access to post race activities including a full buffet, drinks, physical therapy staff, and massages. Registration closes September 28. Shirts are ordered for registrants signed up by August 31. All finishers receive special swag. An optional Refund Guarantee through SPOT is available at checkout to cover personal inability to participate but not event cancellation.
