Event Overview
The Blues Cruise is a 50K trail ultramarathon taking place near Reading, PA. The event also offers a relay option for teams.
Course Details
The course is a 31-mile loop around Blue Marsh Lake. The terrain includes woods, fields, rolling hills, and single-track trails, with less than half a mile of public roadway. The route features one major climb known as the "Ski Slope," with a vertical climb of 240 feet. There is one optional water crossing. The time limit for the 50K is 9 hours, with cutoffs enforced at specific aid stations.
Aid Stations & Support
The course includes 7 themed aid stations that are well stocked and serviced by local ultra runners. A sweep vehicle will be available for runners who do not meet the cutoff times.
Relay Option
A relay option is available for teams of 2–4 runners. The course is divided into four legs:
- Leg 1: Start to Aid Station 1, ~4.7 miles.
- Leg 2: Aid Station 1 to Aid Station 4, ~13.3 miles.
- Leg 3: Aid Station 4 to Aid Station 6, ~7.1 miles (includes the "Ski Slope").
- Leg 4: Aid Station 6 to the finish, ~6.75 miles.
Prizes are awarded for the fastest teams. Aid station support for relay teams is limited.
Additional Information
Camping is available for a small fee. All registered runners are invited to a post-race party with a full buffet, drinks, and physical therapy staff. A race shirt is guaranteed for those who register by August 31. All finishers receive special swag. The event is organized by the Pagoda Pacers running club.
